The eleventh week

I started genotyping the infected larvae for the particular gene I need. This needs to be done for the next step in my project, because the plates need to have an even devide in the amount of each genotype used. The first batch genotyped went very good, there were no failed samples but in the second there were a couple of failed samples. Then in the third batch I genotyped there was no DNA on the agarose gel after the PCR amplification, which is not good. Because of this I had to repeat the batch for a second time, this time the PCR was succesful, there was DNA on the gel. that was all that happened during the week at work because it is a time consuming proces.

Outside of work nothing much different happened than other weeks, during the week I go on my evening walks when I feel like it. in the weekend, on satrday, I got up earlier then normal because I anted to visit a spot at the other side of the city. I decided to walk there and it took more then an hour to get there on foot, but it was worth it because where I went was in the woods and on a hill so I could see the city and the a nice view of the lake at the same time. It was also very quit, there was no city noise only the sound of chirping birds, which was nice. after that I went ot the city to eat something and get a cup of tea while I read my book. on sunday the lapicafé was organised at the student housing where I live. it was very nice everyone brought either something sweet or baked something to share with everyone and some people made tea and coffee. We also played games, mostly uno and Bo something (I forgot the name). One of the people that live here is studieing to become a teacher so he made a kahoot quiz for us about Finland, I did not do well on the quiz. Overall it was a fun afternoon.
